撒上11:1 亚扪人的王拿辖上来，对着基列雅比安营。雅比众人对拿辖说：“你与我们立约，我们就服事你。”
撒上11:1 Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabeshgilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.
撒上11:2 亚扪人拿辖说：“你们若由我剜出你们各人的右眼，以此凌辱以色列众人，我就与你们立约。”
撒上11:2 And Nahash the Ammonite answered them, On this condition will I make a covenant with you, that I may thrust out all your right eyes, and lay it for a reproach upon all Israel.
撒上11:3 雅比的长老对他说：“求你宽容我们七日，等我们打发人往以色列的全境去，若没有人救我们，我们就出来归顺你。”
撒上11:3 And the elders of Jabesh said unto him, Give us seven days' respite, that we may send messengers unto all the coasts of Israel: and then, if there be no man to save us, we will come out to thee.
撒上11:4 使者到了扫罗住的基比亚，将这话说给百姓听，百姓就都放声而哭。
撒上11:4 Then came the messengers to Gibeah of Saul, and told the tidings in the ears of the people: and all the people lifted up their voices, and wept.
撒上11:5 扫罗正从田间赶牛回来，问说：“百姓为什么哭呢？”众人将雅比人的话告诉他。
撒上11:5 And, behold, Saul came after the herd out of the field; and Saul said, What aileth the people that they weep? And they told him the tidings of the men of Jabesh.
撒上11:6 扫罗听见这话，就被 神的灵大大感动，甚是发怒。
撒上11:6 And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly.
撒上11:7 他将一对牛切成块子，托付使者传送以色列的全境说：“凡不出来跟随扫罗和撒母耳的，也必这样切开他的牛。”于是，耶和华使百姓惧怕，他们就都出来如同一人。
撒上11:7 And he took a yoke of oxen, and hewed them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of the LORD fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.
撒上11:8 扫罗在比色数点他们：以色列人有三十万，犹大人有三万。
撒上11:8 And when he numbered them in Bezek, the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.
撒上11:9 众人对那使者说：“你们要回覆基列雅比人说：‘明日太阳近午的时候，你们必得解救。’”使者回去告诉雅比人，他们就欢喜了。
撒上11:9 And they said unto the messengers that came, Thus shall ye say unto the men of Jabeshgilead, To morrow, by that time the sun be hot, ye shall have help. And the messengers came and shewed it to the men of Jabesh; and they were glad.
撒上11:10 于是，雅比人对亚扪人说：“明日我们出来归顺你们，你们可以随意待我们。”
撒上11:10 Therefore the men of Jabesh said, To morrow we will come out unto you, and ye shall do with us all that seemeth good unto you.
撒上11:11 第二日，扫罗将百姓分为三队，在晨更的时候入了亚扪人的营，击杀他们直到太阳近午，剩下的人都逃散，没有二人同在一处的。
撒上11:11 And it was so on the morrow, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the host in the morning watch, and slew the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it came to pass, that they which remained were scattered, so that two of them were not left together.
撒上11:12 百姓对撒母耳说：“那说扫罗岂能管理我们的是谁呢？可以将他交出来，我们好杀死他。”
撒上11:12 And the people said unto Samuel, Who is he that said, Shall Saul reign over us? bring the men, that we may put them to death.
撒上11:13 扫罗说：“今日耶和华在以色列中施行拯救，所以不可杀人。”
撒上11:13 And Saul said, There shall not a man be put to death this day: for to day the LORD hath wrought salvation in Israel.
撒上11:14 撒母耳对百姓说：“我们要往吉甲去，在那里立国。”
撒上11:14 Then said Samuel to the people, Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there.
撒上11:15 众百姓就到了吉甲那里，在耶和华面前立扫罗为王，又在耶和华面前献平安祭。扫罗和以色列众人大大欢喜。
撒上11:15 And all the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before the LORD in Gilgal; and there they sacrificed sacrifices of peace offerings before the LORD; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.
