民22:1 以色列人起行，在摩押平原、约旦河东，对着耶利哥安营。
民22:1 And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan by Jericho.
民22:2 以色列人向亚摩利人所行的一切事，西拨的儿子巴勒都看见了。
民22:2 And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.
民22:3 摩押人因以色列民甚多，就大大惧怕，心内忧急，
民22:3 And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel.
民22:4 对米甸的长老说：“现在这众人要把我们四围所有的一概尽，就如牛舔尽田间的草一般。”那时，西拨的儿子巴勒作摩押王。
民22:4 And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time.
民22:5 他差遣使者往大河边的毗夺去，到比珥的儿子巴兰本乡那里，召巴兰来，说：“有一宗民从埃及出来，遮满地面，与我对居。
民22:5 He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me:
民22:6 这民比我强盛，现在求你来为我咒诅他们，或者我能得胜，攻打他们，赶出此地。因为我知道你为谁祝福，谁就得福；你咒诅谁，谁就受咒诅。”
民22:6 Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.
民22:7 摩押的长老和米甸的长老手里拿着卦金到了巴兰那里，将巴勒的话都告诉了他。
民22:7 And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak.
民22:8 巴兰说：“你们今夜在这里住宿，我必照耶和华所晓谕我的，回报你们。”摩押的使臣就在巴兰那里住下了。
民22:8 And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.
民22:9 神临到巴兰那里说：“在你这里的人都是谁？”
民22:9 And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee?
民22:10 巴兰回答说：“是摩押王西拨的儿子巴勒，打发人到我这里来，说：
民22:10 And Balaam said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, hath sent unto me, saying,
民22:11 ‘从埃及出来的民遮满地面，你来为我咒诅他们，或者我能与他们争战，把他们赶出去。’”
民22:11 Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out.
民22:12 神对巴兰说：“你不可同他们去，也不可咒诅那民，因为那民是蒙福的。”
民22:12 And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.
民22:13 巴兰早晨起来，对巴勒的使臣说：“你们回本地去吧，因为耶和华不容我和你们同去。”
民22:13 And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your land: for the LORD refuseth to give me leave to go with you.
民22:14 摩押的使臣就起来，回巴勒那里去，说：“巴兰不肯和我们同来。”
民22:14 And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and said, Balaam refuseth to come with us.
民22:15 巴勒又差遣使臣，比先前的又多又尊贵。
民22:15 And Balak sent yet again princes, more, and more honourable than they.
民22:16 他们到了巴兰那里，对他说：“西拨的儿子巴勒这样说：‘求你不容什么事拦阻你不到我这里来，
民22:16 And they came to Balaam, and said to him, Thus saith Balak the son of Zippor, Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder thee from coming unto me:
民22:17 因为我必使你得极大的尊荣，你向我要什么，我就给你什么，只求你来为我咒诅这民。’”
民22:17 For I will promote thee unto very great honour, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.
民22:18 巴兰回答巴勒的臣仆说：“巴勒就是将他满屋的金银给我，我行大事小事也不得越过耶和华我 神的命。
民22:18 And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more.
民22:19 现在我请你们今夜在这里住宿，等我得知耶和华还要对我说什么。”
民22:19 Now therefore, I pray you, tarry ye also here this night, that I may know what the LORD will say unto me more.
民22:20 当夜 神临到巴兰那里说：“这些人若来召你，你就起来同他们去，你只要遵行我对你所说的话。”
民22:20 And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.
民22:21 巴兰早晨起来，备上驴，和摩押的使臣一同去了。
民22:21 And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab.
民22:22 神因他去就发了怒，耶和华的使者站在路上敌挡他。他骑着驴，有两个仆人跟随他。
民22:22 And God's anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.
民22:23 驴看见耶和华的使者站在路上，手里有拔出来的刀，就从路上跨进田间，巴兰便打驴要叫它回转上路。
民22:23 And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.
民22:24 耶和华的使者就站在葡萄园的窄路上，这边有墙，那边也有墙。
民22:24 But the angel of the LORD stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side.
民22:25 驴看见耶和华的使者就贴靠墙，将巴兰的脚挤伤了，巴兰又打驴。
民22:25 And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam's foot against the wall: and he smote her again.
民22:26 耶和华的使者又往前去，站在狭窄之处，左右都没有转折的地方。
民22:26 And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.
民22:27 驴看见耶和华的使者，就卧在巴兰底下，巴兰发怒用杖打驴。
民22:27 And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam's anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.
民22:28 耶和华叫驴开口，对巴兰说：“我向你行了什么，你竟打我这三次呢？”
民22:28 And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?
民22:29 巴兰对驴说：“因为你戏弄我，我恨不能手中有刀，把你杀了。”
民22:29 And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee.
民22:30 驴对巴兰说：“我不是你从小时直到今日所骑的驴吗？我素常向你这样行过吗？”巴兰说：“没有。”
民22:30 And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? And he said, Nay.
民22:31 当时，耶和华使巴兰的眼目明亮，他就看见耶和华的使者站在路上，手里有拔出来的刀，巴兰便低头俯伏在地。
民22:31 Then the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face.
民22:32 耶和华的使者对他说：“你为何这三次打你的驴呢？我出来敌挡你，因你所行的在我面前偏僻。
民22:32 And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse before me:
民22:33 驴看见我就三次从我面前偏过去；驴若没有偏过去，我早把你杀了，留它存活。”
民22:33 And the ass saw me, and turned from me these three times: unless she had turned from me, surely now also I had slain thee, and saved her alive.
民22:34 巴兰对耶和华的使者说：“我有罪了，我不知道你站在路上阻挡我。你若不喜欢我去，我就转回。”
民22:34 And Balaam said unto the angel of the LORD, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again.
民22:35 耶和华的使者对巴兰说：“你同这些人去吧！你只要说我对你说的话。”于是巴兰同着巴勒的使臣去了。
民22:35 And the angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.
民22:36 巴勒听见巴兰来了，就往摩押京城去迎接他，这城是在边界上，在亚嫩河旁。
民22:36 And when Balak heard that Balaam was come, he went out to meet him unto a city of Moab, which is in the border of Arnon, which is in the utmost coast.
民22:37 巴勒对巴兰说：“我不是急急地打发人到你那里去召你吗？你为何不到我这里来呢？我岂不能使你得尊荣吗？”
民22:37 And Balak said unto Balaam, Did I not earnestly send unto thee to call thee? wherefore camest thou not unto me? am I not able indeed to promote thee to honour?
民22:38 巴兰说：“我已经到你这里来了，现在我岂能擅自说什么呢？ 神将什么话传给我，我就说什么。”
民22:38 And Balaam said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto thee: have I now any power at all to say any thing? the word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak.
民22:39 巴兰和巴勒同行，来到基列胡琐。
民22:39 And Balaam went with Balak, and they came unto Kirjathhuzoth.
民22:40 巴勒宰了（原文作“献”）牛羊，送给巴兰和陪伴的使臣。
民22:40 And Balak offered oxen and sheep, and sent to Balaam, and to the princes that were with him.
民22:41 到了早晨，巴勒领巴兰到巴力的高处，巴兰从那里观看以色列营的边界。
民22:41 And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, that thence he might see the utmost part of the people.
